Welcome to the home of the University of Akron's Student Chapter of the Association for Computing Machinery! The ACM is a national organization that promotes the awareness and understanding of current computing technology. Our Chapter strives to provide our student members with numerous outlets that will allow them to expand their knowledge and love of technology. We offer various workshops on numerous topics such as: programming, security, Linux, mobile computing, and many more. The Chapter also discusses current trends in technology in order to stay ahead of the curve. We have numerous contacts with local companies and organizations. These companies and organizations are frequent guest speakers at our meetngs. The Chapter also keeps in mind the old saying, "All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy." We hold such events as movie nights, console gaming days, LAN parties, and dinner trips to various restaurants. |

It is mid-June, and nobody at all is thinking about school. Except for us, your tireless ACM trustees, the board of boards. So without any ado, I would like to introduce the group that will be taking care of all the behind-the-scenes items this fall: Treasurer Kat Bradley Vice-President John Albright President Chad Vincent While everyone else is out enjoying their summer, we're filling out paperwork, scheduling days off work to go meet with people in the SOuRCe, and trying to get events together to make the ACM an interesting place to be! To help us with this planning, if anyone has any comments, suggestions, or uncles who wrote code for Bell Labs in the '70s, let us know in the forums! Also, don't forget the ACM: ICPC is just a mere 5 months away! I will be posting some sample problems soon for anyone considering participating this fall. Until this August, HAVE A GREAT SUMMER! |
