Distant Worlds: Music of Final Fantasy / Meet & Greet w/ Nobuo Uematsu
I threw this out there earlier today... on December 12, in Chicago, the Chicagoland Pops and Festival Choir will host Nobuo Uematsu and feature the music from Final Fantasy. As of this very moment there are still eight VIP meet & greet tickets left, which, coincidentally, is approximately the number that we would be able to afford to get, IF UAF were to grant approval for the event.
Pros:
- It would be a once in a lifetime unforgettable event.
- The event would end up costing those who go very little.
Cons:
- The above two statements would only apply to the eight members lucky enough to get to go.
- The VIP passes may be gone by the time we are able to secure funding for the trip.
- ... Assuming we could get funded at all.
- It would destroy our budget for, say, continuation up to and including worlds for ACM-ICPC.
- ...Or any other overnight trip for that matter.
Something I think we need to think about immediately is charging whoever wants to / gets to go a fee for going... something substantial... and something we could roll back into the group. If there is interest in this, I think we should basically move on it pretty quick... Lemme know.
It probably wouldn't effect us going to Youngstown, but it would probably definitely affect our ability to go to the next stages... I'm not sure where the next stage would be at... I'm just planning on going to worlds, is all...
Under the old EAF rules, if you won a competition and went on to subsequent rounds (Semi-Finals, Finals, etc.), those trips did not count against your 3/year.

I really like this idea, but I don't like the idea of not being able to go to the ACM ICPC. How many VIP tickets could we get without not being able to go to the competition?
Charging a fee for this is good. It'd help recoup whatever we loose out of UAF.
I'll bring this up at our IRC meeting this monday, and everyone can discuss it.
