Meeting for 2009-11-04

11/04/2009 17:13
America/New York

We have a banner!!! Yay!!

Dr Liszka says stuff:

She is the editor of an annual newsletter that'll probably be put out in January. She's looking for articles.

Ideas for the ACM: programming contest, child's play, graduating seniors, future ACM events

She'll also have stuff about alumni, faculty research, other upcoming events, etc.

During finals week, they're having a special "computer science education" week. We might invite alumni to our student faculty bowling night (which is Dec 4). But she's looking for other ideas for what we can do that week.

She might be bringing in tie guy in the spring! (emphasis on might)

Kat and Mel fought over a free chalupa from taco bell

We have CDs, and we have newegg hardware.

We also have very sexy T shirts. They're in beta at the moment. They'll be released through the department soon.

Trever's working on setting up the sandbox machine.

Nibbles got us a $50 gift card for child's play.

We're going to distribute child's play fliers. Meet this Friday in the lab at 5.

The contest team did well in Youngstown! Yay!

In spring, we're going to do an in house programming competition. We might make it mandatory for DS1. Also, there's talk of getting 2 credits for going to the competition next fall.

There's also a spring competition at Denison that we should go to. More info later.

Trever wants to do an ACM hacking workshop. Starting the Friday after next, we'll meet in the lab and work on stuff. More info next week.

ZPN is cramping our style. They're also having a guitar hero competition. But ours is cooler. If you go to theirs, just do it as a warm up for ours.

We're requesting

$200 - general operating
$700 - robotics stuff

suggestions for more stuff:
a network switch for fragging 101
more swag for roofest

We'll have 200 buttons and keychains for roofest in the very near future (already budgeted for)

Other suggestions for swag:
Pens, flash drives, cups, magnets, collection of open source stuff on CD

We'll have an inkjet CD printer soon. It's the department's but we get to use it whenever we want.

Chuck says check surplus for a switch
