IRC Meeting #2

So as we mentioned in the last meeting, I'd plan another IRC meeting during which we would hammer out more details about what we discussed in the previous meeting. Without further ado, let's have another round of "pick what works best for you"!

Pick a day for next week (Aug 2nd - Aug 8th), and leave an evening timeframe in the comments. This will stay open 'till 11:59pm this friday, and before noon on Saturday I'll have picked a time and date. Thursday is conspicuously absent because I already have plans then.

  • Opening date: Tue, 07/28/2009 - 21:54
  • Closing date: Fri, 07/31/2009 - 22:59

Meeting for 2009-07-13

07/13/2009 21:42
America/New York

So here we are folks, our first IRC meeting of the new administration. This would have originally been posted up last night, but my idiot self was fighting the conventions established in Drupal's CCK module, leading to an incredibly long development time for the chatlog importer. But it works now. Read on for a complete summary of the meeting.

Topics Discussed:

  • RooFest
  • LIP Service + ACM Gaming Night
  • A Week of Welcome event

RooFest

Summer IRC Meeting #1

According to the voting results, the majority of us would be able to have our IRC meeting on monday evening. I'm going to pick the time of 9:00 PM Columbus time, since thats a pretty reasonable time for both sides of the country. The big topic to be discussed is Week of Welcome, any events we'd like to plan for that, Roo Fest, and maybe the new UAF funding system if our treasurer can make it.

Summer ACM Meeting

The deadline for registering a Week of Welcome event on the official schedule is next Wednesday at 5pm. I think its time that we all got together one way or another and had an actual meeting to discuss this and more. So to organize things and get everyone together on the same page, let's all decide on a time to meet. We will convene online in the CS IRC channel (irc://irc.slashnet.org/#uakroncs) when it is best for all the officers.

Week of Welcome

Howdy, folks. Hope you're all enjoying your summer thus far.

As you may or may not know, the office of New Student Orientation is starting to plan out the annual fall semester Week of Welcome. It is aimed at being a way for the new students to get familiar with campus and what the University of Akron has to offer. In this, we'll have a few thousand new freshmen attending UA for the first time. Of those, I'd wager that roughly half of them are undecided. Maybe 10% of those are considering computer science.

The New ACM Website!

Hey, welcome to the new ACM website. Looks the same, right? Thats what I'm hoping. The new website here is built upon the powerful Drupal CMS. This means a lot of great things, but I figure everyone will enjoy a nice list of them:

Officer Change-Over

05/06/2009
America/New York

The official (per the ACM, who knows with UA...) changing of the guard happens at midnight on May 5th. Why? Because I picked that date arbitrarily last year and kept it this year when filling out the change forms for the ACM.

Good luck everyone! I'll be over here doing about 5/8ths of what I did last year... Wait...

What do you think of the new drupal-based site?

Bowling

05/02/2009 19:00
05/02/2009 21:00
America/New York

We've got some funds to burn through, so we decided to treat everyone to an evening in the student union's game room. Free of charge, too!

Bring a friend and enjoy free bowling all night long!
